TASTE WHERE YOU COME FROM.
TASTE WHAT'S POSSIBLE.
What if a simple piece of candy could carry a story?
Heritage. Creativity. Opportunity.
Kandy Kulture was born in Delft, Cape Town, from a belief that where you come from should give you roots — not limits.

A SIMPLE JAR.
Three years ago, Janine Fortuin, Diego Simons and Cleo Hendricks started turning a simple idea into a youth enterprise. What began with experimenting with flavors became something bigger: a space where young people could create, learn, take ownership and discover that creativity can build something powerful.
Because sometimes you don't start with a big business plan.
Sometimes you start with a simple jar of candy.
And that jar can carry a whole lot more than flavor.
FROM DELFT TO THE WORLD.
In 2023, Janine, Cleo and Diego travelled from Delft to Germany through an environmental and climate-change exchange — learning, sharing ideas and experiencing a world beyond the boundaries they knew.
And then came another journey.
Through Delft Arts Dance, young dancers from Delft travelled to Prague for a world championship, taking their talent, their stories and their community onto an international stage.
These journeys taught us something:
Where you come from does not determine how far you can go.
You can see the world.
You can learn from it.
You can carry your culture with you.
And you can come home and create.

THE WORLD MEETS CAPE TOWN.
Cape Town is where worlds meet.
Cultures.
Languages.
Histories.
People.
Flavors.
The Mother City is part of the extraordinary mix that makes South Africa the Rainbow Nation — and we wanted to capture some of that energy in a jar.
Kandy Kulture draws inspiration from the bold sweet, sour and spicy experience associated with Mexican candy, but we give it our own South African personality.
Our chamoy-style flavors bring that global experience together with the taste of home — including South African mebos and sour figs.
Something from somewhere else meets something from here.
And something new is born.

HERITAGE DOESN'T HAVE TO SIT QUIETLY.
We don't believe heritage has to sit quietly in a museum.
Heritage can move.
It can dance.
It can make music.
It can become art.
It can become enterprise.
It can travel.
It can be reinvented by the next generation.
That's what Kandy Kulture is about.
Taking the things that make us who we are and asking:
What else can we become?
A flavor can carry a memory.
A jar can carry a culture.
A story can carry a young person's dreams.
And an idea can carry a community forward.
MORE THAN CANDY.
Kandy Kulture is part of a bigger vision — building creative economies where young people can create, learn, earn and lead.
Through Kandy Kulture and Delft Arts, the journey connects to opportunities in dance, creative arts, art therapy, education, mentorship and youth development.
Because creativity isn't only something to admire.
It can be an economy.
A skill can become an opportunity.
An opportunity can become income.
And income can help create another opportunity.
That is how a little idea can become part of something much bigger.
FROM DELFT. TO CAPE TOWN. TO THE WORLD. AND BACK HOME AGAIN.
Kandy Kulture is a taste of where we come from — and a taste of where we believe young people can go.
You're not just buying candy. You're tasting where we come from.
You're tasting what's possible.
